The Nha Mininu CD – Traditional Children’s Songs of Guinea-Bissau – is part of the Cultura i nô balur Project – An Education Strategy for Culture, promoted by FEC and partners and was funded by the European Union, Misereor and Camões – Instituto de Cooperação and Language, I.P.

For six weeks we travelled across all regions of Guinea-Bissau, making 114 recording sessions and collecting 500 songs from 15 ethnic groups in 17 different languages.

We used these recordings as the raw material and in Lisbon we added the contribution of Guinean musicians living in Portugal, such as Braima Galissa, Bubacar Djabate and Gueladjo Sané, as well as other instruments and sound objects played by us.

We hope that this work will contribute to the dissemination and dignification of Guinea-Bissau’s musical culture in all its variety and richness.

We invite you to freely listen and download the CD, sharing it as you wish.
